At the Chair and Department of Biochemistry of the Medical University of Warsaw, we conduct advanced research on the metabolism, structure, and function of biomolecules, as well as on the mechanisms of action of drugs. Our research projects focus on analyzing their interactions with cells and tissues and on developing innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

One of our key missions is the education of future physicians, dentists, and other medical professionals. Our teaching activities are interdisciplinary in nature, integrating knowledge from biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics.

We also offer a wide range of elective courses for students following the core curriculum, as well as courses for PhD candidates within the Doctoral School of the Medical University of Warsaw. Both students and doctoral candidates have the opportunity to actively participate in research projects, gaining valuable scientific experience at an early stage of their academic careers.

Students of the EVIONA Student Scientific Group worked on developing a method for the analysis of individual extracellular vesicles using high-sensitivity flow cytometry.

In a study published in Cell Communication and Signaling, we demonstrate that small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) isolated from bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and plasma of patients with non-small cell lung cancer actively modulate the airway microenvironment.
