Summary of the Project Implementation by Our Students
🎉 We have successfully completed the SKN EVIONA research project!
The project “Development and Optimization of Extracellular Vesicle Microparticle Phenotyping Using High-Resolution Flow Cytometry” was carried out within the Student Scientific Groups Create Innovation program, funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The total amount of funding awarded was PLN 70,000.
During the project, students developed a modern protocol enabling the analysis of extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from both patient plasma and cell culture systems. A key achievement was the development of a method allowing direct EV analysis in plasma without prior isolation, significantly streamlining and accelerating research workflows.
📊 The results and the developed protocol were presented at the international conference of the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV), held in April 2025 in Vienna.
Thanks to the obtained funding, students of the SKN EVIONA group—under the supervision of the group mentor and project leader, Dr. habil. Małgorzata Czystowska-Kuźmicz—were able to fully utilize the research potential of the Chair and Department of Biochemistry at the Medical University of Warsaw, working with state-of-the-art equipment and specialized reagents. The project represented not only an important step forward in EV research, but also a valuable scientific experience for future researchers and clinicians.
