🏆 International Success of Research Conducted with the Participation of Our Department – First Prize at the Young Investigator Award in Bologna!
This prestigious distinction was awarded for the presentation entitled "Nasal Extracellular Vesicles Capture Epithelial–Immune Signalling in Childhood Asthma: A Multi-matrix Proteomics Study", which received the Young Investigator Award – First Prize at this year's INSPiRED Congress in Bologna.
🎉 The award-winning research is the outcome of the PRELUDIUM 20 project funded by the National Science Centre (NCN), Poland, entitled "Analysis of miRNAs in Extracellular Vesicles Isolated from the Respiratory Tract and Their Role in the Pathomechanism of Asthma in the Pediatric Population." The project is led by Dr Dominika Ambrożej from the Department of Pediatric Pulmonology and Allergology, Medical University of Warsaw, under the supervision of Prof. Wojciech Feleszko. The project is funded by the National Science Centre (NCN) under the PRELUDIUM 20 programme (Project No. 2021/41/N/NZ5/02950).
🧬 A key part of the laboratory work was carried out at the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine, Medical University of Warsaw by the research group led by Dr hab. Małgorzata Czystowska-Kuźmicz, with a major contribution from Dr Magdalena Długołęcka. The close collaboration between the clinical and laboratory teams enabled the application of state-of-the-art methods for extracellular vesicle isolation and characterization, combined with advanced proteomic analyses, providing new insights into the communication between airway epithelial cells and immune cells.
🔬 The findings demonstrate that extracellular vesicles represent a valuable source of information about the biological processes occurring in the airways of children with asthma. These results constitute an important step toward the identification of novel disease biomarkers and a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying pediatric asthma.
🌍 Receiving this award at the world's largest congress dedicated to pediatric respiratory medicine is not only a distinction for the authors of the study but also a recognition of the high quality of research conducted at the Medical University of Warsaw and the growing international visibility of our Department in the field of extracellular vesicle research.
👏 We warmly congratulate Dr Dominika Ambrożej, all co-authors, and the entire research team on this outstanding achievement. We are proud that research carried out in collaboration with our Department continues to gain international recognition and contributes to the advancement of translational medicine.
